1841 Look Up Please - Bricket Wood area
« on: Friday 13 January 06 22:11 GMT (UK) »
Good evening

I would be grateful to know of the whereabouts and members of a family by the name of Ostler/Ossler/Horsler or similar transcribed name which includes Charlotte born c1829.

She is transcribed  as Charlotte  Horster in the 1851 Census and living in Bricket Wood, as the niece of a George Norwood but, even though the transcription looks to be correct, my thoughts are that the original enumeration was not accurate. She ws born 'in county'.

Also in 1851, the mother in law to George Norwood is shown as a widow Mary Horster born c1777 in St Albans and living with the Norwoods.

Many thanks in anticipation. Kind Regards - Dave

Hi Dave,

Found yet another variation of surname in the 1841.   Here goes   ...

HO107/439/4   F.26.  P.6.  Smug Oak.
James Hoster  68  Ag Lab.
Mary Hoster  66  Plaiter
William Hoster  20  Ag Lab.
Charlotte Hoster  12  Plaiter
Ann Falkener   10  Plaiter
All born in county.

Whilst searching I found another Hoster family at Park Street Lane which is but a stones throw from Smug Oak.

HO439/4  F.25. P.3. Park Street Lane
James Hoster  30 Ag Lab.
Ann Hoster  25  Plaiter
George Hoster  9mths.
All born in county.

Regards   ...  Peter

Hi Peter

Very many thanks for your time and effort in finding these - another variation of the spelling which will come in handy to consider in that neck of the woods.

Kind Regards - Dave
