De La Mare in Jersey

This is my 1st posting to Channel Islands Rootschat and was wondering if you could point me in the right direction for searching Birth records. I am researching for a friend FREDERICK DELAMARE born St Helier,Jersey abt 1876 - father's name FRANCIS and mother HARRIETT DELAMARE possibly CARTER. In 1901 Frederick was in Newport, Monmouthshire with his parents and married in Newport 1904.
If anybody relates to this family I would love to hear from you.

I called in to the Jersey Archives today and looked this up for you.

Firstly, have you seen the family on the 1881 census, St Helier
74 St Saviour's Road -
De La Mare
Francis  head marr 33 Mason  born St Helier
Harriet  wife  marr 28  Dresssmaker  born St Helier
Charles  son  5  born St Helier
Frederick  son  3  born St Helier

So this makes Frederick's birth about 1878 (not 1876).
I have checked the births register for St Helier, and there is no Frederick De La Mare in the period 1875-1877.
However, in the period 23/3/1877-2/4/1878 there is one likely entry -
Frederick Winter De La Mare - page 44.

You can confirm this is the right birth by getting a copy of the certificate from:

I have located the birth for his (possible) father, in the registrar's index -
Francis de la Mare  period 1.8.1842 - 30.9.1843  page 84

Have you also seen the 1871 census, 11 Convent Gardens, St Helier
CARTER
John head  Marr  age 57  Stone mason  born: Jersey
Eliza wife  Marr  58   Jersey
Charles  son  unm  19  stone mason
DE LA MARE   [in the same household]
Francis  son-in-law  marr  28  carpenter  Jersey
Harriet  dau  marr  27  -  Jersey

If this is right it would certainly confirm Harriet's maiden name as Carter.
