Help! Wheres Sarah?? COMPLETE THANKS
« on: Saturday 14 January 06 17:33 GMT (UK) »
I have the following marriage -

Thomas William Richards to Sara Lawson 22/09/1912 St Davids Church in the parish of Llangyfelach, Glamorgan. Witnesses are Fred Lawson and Ida Lawson. Sara's father is called John Lawson and is a Foreman.

I have found the groom ok, but have had no luck finding a Sara Lawson with father John. Can anyone else find her??

I've put this here because I dont know if she was definitely from Glamorgan, or even Wales!

Any help in tracing her would be wonderful!

Thankyou
Catherine  :)

Hi

There is a Sarah LAWSON aged 9 in 1901 - father John is a plasterer.  They are in Workington Cumberland, though and John is already 55 years of age.  RG13/4833

I can find Ida LAWSONs too, but there is no knowing what generation the witness is.  She might have married into the LAWSON family between the census and the marriage.

Does the marriage cert say 21 years or "full age"?

it says 21 for Sarah, 29 for Thomas William....residence for both of them at the time of marriage was Tyrcanol, Morriston.....

Have no idea how to find this girl (until she turns up on a census with her husband, with her place of birth listed hopefully, which wont be until the 1921 census is released!!)  :(

Thanks for looking
Best Wishes

Hi Catherine,

Like Arranroots, I have found to many variables, in the Census.  I can find no Sarah born in Wales, and too many in England.

Just wondered.....maybe there is a local newspaper recording of the wedding ??? it might have a little more info.

A long shot ???

Never thought of a local newspaper, and wouldn't have any idea how to go about finding it either, but hopefully a local rootschatter can give me some tips on where the local newspaper archives would be and if they offer search facilities........  :)

I did find a John Lawson, married, in his 40's, on the 1901 census, a "ganger" I think, if I remember correctly, but he was from Sweden! There seems to be quite a few Swedish Lawsons about, so am hoping they're not mine, cos I wouldn't have a clue how to get further back then!!

Thanks for looking everyone, think I'll be waiting on the 1911/21 census for this lady...
