suicide 1907 devonport
« on: Saturday 14 January 06 22:43 GMT (UK) »
Hi there, I am wondering if anyone can help. I have a copy of a death certificate stating that the person did kill themselves. The certificate mentions that an an inquest took place to determine the cause of death. Are there any inquest records available, and what information might this have? Also, as this was a man in his 20's with a wife and daughter, might there have been a mention in a local newspaper, and if so, which record office or library might hold these?  I could travel to Devon on a day visit. Many thanks for any thoughts.

There should be a report on the inquest in the Western Morning News which can be accessed in Plymouth Library.

Hi

If you live in the London area you could go to the Newspaper Library in Colindale.  They have every paper for every region in the country there and you don't have to request it in advance either.  It is on the Northern Line and quite close to Colindale Underground Station.
