Request 1841 census lookup
« on: Sunday 15 January 06 00:07 GMT (UK) »
I wonder is someone could help me to find Abraham Walker (b. 1833 Birstall) in 1841.  In 1851 he was living with his step-brother William Greaves in Leeds.  There is no area given, only St Saviour, Leeds and the address for William Greaves is East of No 100.  Not much to go on I'm afraid.  Abraham's  parents John and Rachel Walker were I believe in Silcoates, Wakefield but he didn't appear to be with them and it occurred to me that he could be with his stepbrother who would have been 17 in 1841 (born Heckmondwike).  Leeds seems to be a starting point and I'm sorry I can't be more specific.

I think Abraham is William Greaves,s Brother in Law on the 1851 and not his stepbrother although it does say Step brother in Law

Many Thanks to those who replied to my request.  I have now discovered that Abraham Walker was in fact a step brother to William Greaves due to the fact that his mother was formerly married to a "Greaves".  Abraham was born after his mother married John Walker.  I think that the information Joe gave me for 1841 is probably the correct family.  Thanks again.
