From the Commonwealth War Graves Commission website

NAYLOR, JOSEPH
Initials: J
Nationality: United Kingdom
Rank: Corporal
Regiment: South Lancashire Regiment
Unit Text: 1st/5th Bn.
Age: 32
Date of Death: 01/12/1917
Service No: 241579
Awards: MM
Additional information: Son of Henry and Martha Naylor, of Sutton, Surrey.
Casualty Type: Commonwealth War Dead
Grave/Memorial Reference: Panel 7.
Memorial: CAMBRAI MEMORIAL, LOUVERVAL

I think an error for Sutton Lancashire. On the 1901 census Joseph was living at home with his widowed father and working on a farm. His siblings Elizabeth, Henry and Catherine were also still at home.

It is on the cwgc site. He is also mentioned in the London Gazette.

http://www.cwgc.org/cwgcinternet/casualty_details.aspx?casualty=1755529

If you look where it says awards, it says MM.

Also if you search under j. naylor you find the mention of it here.

http://www.gazettes-online.co.uk/archiveSearch.asp?WebType=0&Referer=full

Can you post the details slightly clearer, ie if you know places of birth of dates , even if they are rough approximations, should be able to find them in the censuses, had a look but there are loads of naylors.

1891 census RG12 3026 folio 86
Sherdley Cottage St Helens  Lancashire
Naylor, Henry 49 Rainhill, Lancashire, Head Widowed Agricultural labourer
Naylor, Richard 18 Sutton, Lancashire,  Son Agricultural labourer
Naylor, Lily 16 Sutton, Lancashire,  Daughter  Domestic
Naylor, Henry 11 Sutton, Lancashire,  Son
Naylor, Kate 8 Sutton, Lancashire, Daughter
Naylor, Joseph 6 Sutton, Lancashire, Son

Lily from the 1881 and 1901 censuses would appear to be Elizabeth. Kate is Catherine.

As Joseph is mentioned on the Cambrai memorial it means he has no known grave.
