Hi June,

I was interested to see you had listed "Hawley" as a surname.

My current "Brick-Wall" is my 4x gr-grandfather William Hawley -born 1799.

He spent most of his life in Leicester where he married in 1823, and died in 1886.

All of the census' give his birth place as York, I don't know if this means the county, or city of York?

The only other link I can find with YKS is to the Eastwood and Firth families of Sheffield.

I wondered if you had ever seen my William, born 1799.
best wishes,

Mark

 :) Hello Mark

I am afraid I do not have much on my HAWLEY line.  Averilda HAWLEY was my paternal grandmother and she married Herbert BRADFORD in 1914 and had three sons, Leslie, Ronald (my dad) and Derek.  Her parents were William and Emily (nee WHITHAM) m.1874 and siblings were Louesa, William who m. Alice BILBEY, Emily and Annie.  William I know about, he is on my parents wedding photo but the others I got from 1901 census.

I have yet to ascertain where William snr. was born (c1854) as William seemed to a common name for HAWLEYs.
