Hello Alli
Thank you for all these death dates. Would you believe it, is only this week end  I  have sent off to Gro for 3  of these certifiicates  I had the year but not the day & month   Although it is nice to  have a certificate cost wise Ive just got to stop some where.

These dates are a great help to me  I will be able to put a  closure to some of these people. at least the infants.

Very much appreciated

Hi Alli
I forgot to mention that Eliza & Charles are my 2 x great G. parents and William  & Mary are  my 3 x G.. Grand Parents and I didnt know these last two were buried at Horncastle.
I have in my family files another  William died 1901 Horncastle This I believe to be my 2 x g,g,  He is was on the 1891  Census with wife Eliza and family  in Bexley Kent but not on the 1901 although Eliza & Famly were still in Kent. This 1901  certificate is one I have just sent for. I should wait for the certificate to arrive but wondered if you had any day month for the 1901 death & was he buried at Horncastle

RegardS

I was wondering if there was anyway who could find the inscriptions of my G.G.. Grandparents  Charles & Eliza VESSEY Gravestones Holy Trinity Chruch Yard  Horncastle Plot 76 I am told. Not sure where I got the Plot No from.(So much for my Resourcing)
Charles died  in 1878 & Eliza died 1887 . They were living in Stanhope Rd.Horncastle
Any Help appreciated
DIANNE

you are in luck

I had to go to HC to collect things for my father in hospital and ran upto the church,

The graves are no longer insitu, one or 2 are free standing, the rest removed, there are 2 areas where they have survived, the first area are all relating the the Jobson family

The second area is a place they have lined up remaining headstones.

I found the one for Charles Vessey died 1878

Hello Willow Wah
I have just caught  up with your posting. What a find. Charles is my Great
great grandfather.Pity about the removed gravestones.
I dont know if you have read other postings of mine to RootChat   But my grand father Cecil Vessey immigrated to N.Z in 1910 and married my grandmother. He left behind in England his  parents &siblings and had no further contact with them again I think this is very strange. My father said they were never allowed to ask questions.
.My father died four years ago and this is when I began to research his  Vessey family He would have loved to have known what I have found about his family. He grew up not knowing anything about his grandparents uncles aunts or cousin I have gone back as far as 1732 I thought Vesseys was an unusual name but not so, there were ever so many in Lincoln
This Charles' grave that you have found had 5 siblings all born in Horncastle & when he married  Eliza, he had 10 children of his own all born in Horncastle  I am now starting to branch out sideways Never ending.

All the Vesseys in the New Zealand Telephone book are my Aunts Uncles or Cousins & I have got them all . None of my Vessey cousins in NZ have done any research leaving it all to Dianne
Is the offer still on about taking some photos.
Living in New Zealand and living so far away and knowing someone is actually living near Horncastle makes my eyes water.
Thank you for taking up your valuable time . I can just imagine you running up the road to the cemetery.Mind you I have spent plenty of time  in the New Zealand Cemeterys  taking photos.A great Hobby !

Keep in touch

I bet you would like the photo too   ;)

which I took and will get off the camera this weekend if not before  I think his wifes name was once on the stone too but it is broken off and obscured

Also took photos of the Trinity Centre and there was a display of old photos inside of what it used to look like so I grabbed a shot of those too

I'm still busy I work all morning and am having to spend the rest of the day at the hospital with my father, he's still on the heart ward but is looking a little better

I will be going to horncastle again one day next week to check on his house so will have a look at St Marys to see if there are graves still there or not ( I live about 25 miles from HC)

Its a shame you cant load pics on here or link to your own webspace to show them

Hi Wllowah  Out late  Arrived home at  midnight & your pictures had arrived.  Couldnt wait to read  e-mail and the frustration. My computor is old & SLOW.! The first picture opened up of the gravestone Really pleased & couldnt really believe  that I  was actually looking at the first tangible thing I have seen to connect me with my ancestors After 1 & 1/2 hours of waiting now nearly 2.am  tired but not complaining the next picture came up then a signal appears  "RAN OUT OF DISC SPACE' You do not know how dissappointed I am Every thing seized up & as I am not very  Computor  illiterate Can,t even print them off.
MY daughters work is at a printing office so I will forward E-mail to her tomorrow  Monday & she will print them off on high glossy paperfor me
Not a worry but I see there is another two e-mails that I cant open from you.
I think something may be telling me to get a new Computor, they are quite reasonably priced over here, but I have been  comfey with this , at least untill now.
Glad your dad is making good progress. Will let you know how I get on tomorrow
and without repeating my self thank you so much again. I see where you are 25 miles away please  do not put yourself out for me

I see on my Vessey birth certificates there were at least 10 Vesseys baptised in this church., It would be great if we turn the clock back just to imagine the family with all the family at the christenings & funerals
Also could you tell me what those little white flowers in the photos are ? Snowdrops crocuses.
Bye for now

Dianne

If you have a slow PC and they take forever to arrive  you will have exactly the same problem trying to send them out.

I suggest you email me your daughters email addess and I'll send on to her

I am presuming here that she has a higher spec PC

As soon as I can I'll try and see if any graves are left standing in St Marys

on the 25th I have to put some flowers on my step mothers grave on behalf of my father, thats in a large cemetary on Boston Rd, I'll try and see if there are Vessey headstones.
