marriage look up Stephen Beharrell and Sarah
« on: Tuesday 17 January 06 23:52 GMT (UK) »
Hi

I'm looking for a marriage between Stephen Beharrell and Sarah.  The earliest child that I can find for them is Elizabeth who was baptised on 28 Oct 1792 at Doddington, thanks, Ruth

Mooncrystal,
I'll look this up for you next time I'm at the CCRO, presumably in the Doddington or nearby parishes, prior to 1792...

Hi again, Ruth,
Had a look in the DODDINGTON parish transcripts today, but although all those BEHARREL baptisms were there from 1792 until 1810, there was no sign of the marriage of Stephen and Sarah prior to that.  That 1792 baptism for Elizabeth had the suffix BEN beside it, indicating Benwick, but there was no separate record of those - I believe Benwick Doddington and Wimpole all came under the Doddington heading until much later on.
However, there was one amusing/tragic entry of a burial for 20-10-1783:
Wm. Bayley son of Edw. poor.  Supposed to be killed by a horse of Mr Beharrel's.

Apart from that, sorry I wasn't much help today...
Keith

Ruth,
As I've just said in my PM to you, I'll spread the net a little further next time I'm at the CCRO (hopefully, Tuesday) and have a look in the Whittlesey and Coates registers, to name just a couple!
Keith

Ruth, these 18thC BEHARREL's are proving elusive...The earliest reference to the family name in the Whittlesey St Mary's registers was a 1798 marriage, and the earliest baptism a Sarah BEHARREL in 1799, daughter of John and Ann.
In the Whittlesea St. Andrew's registers the earliest reference was not until 1828.
The Coates registers do not start until 1850, apparently, as it was a new parish only formed at that time.
No sightings, then, but we're probably quite close to finding the BEHARREL name nearby pre-1792 in the area.
Sorry I was unable to come up with a sighting today...
Keith
