List of Wiltshire Emigrants to Canada 1836

In 1836 10% of the residents of Downton Parish, Wiltshire  220 people along with 59 others from Standlynch and Whiteparish arrived in Canada on a boat sponsored with funds borrowed by the parish of Downton.

  Yes thank as well Dollylee. I had seen this sight a long while back but at that time none of the names belonged to me. But since then,  in  the 51 census the surname Webb crept into my tree. John Webb of Downton B1824ish being the father of my gggrandfather b1851 and all his siblings.(even though they were all baptised Mussellwhite) I have no doubt that some of the Webbs on that ship were relations of John Webb. Thanks for reminding me of the site.

have't  got my files in front of me ,but from memory William and Martha Webb went to Canada from Downton, will bring files to work tomorrow and see if there is any more information

This information is so interesting Dollylee.  Although my ancestors were from Longbridge Deverill, it gives me an idea of what they went through when they journeyed to Canada, I believe  in the same period.
