Only the 1901 and 1911 censuses exist.

For Griffith's Valuation Landholders (1850's) see

Thanks!

I knew that some documents were destroyed in a fire but did not realise that this was all that remained.

Is there no other way of finding people in Galway between 1850 and 1901?

If you have access to a LDS centre you could order the Dunmore Parish register microfilm. Number 1279206, items 6-9 contains Baptisms 1833-1860, 1877-1910; Marriages 1833-1860. The Ireland GRO index is held by some local centres, perhaps check with your nearest. Civil registration began in 1864 for Catholics, the index is aphabetical by year 1864-1880, afterwards by year and quarter. Photocopies are available for a small fee at  http://www.groireland.ie/apply_for_a_cert.htm They used to offer a year's search for an additional fee, it may no longer be available.

You may find a 'Head of Household' name here http://www.from-ireland.net/censabstracts/gal/1901/dunmore1.htm
The LDS also have the 1901 and 1911 censuses but Dunmore is spread over various films http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library/fhlcatalog/supermainframeset.asp?display=titlefilmnotes&columns=*%2C180%2C0&titleno=142624&disp=Census+returns%2C+Dunmore+Parish+%28Galw++

There are land records but you would need to know whether they lived in the town of Dunmore or the outlying district and if so which townland. The Valuation Office offer a paid search facility http://www.valoff.ie/  Again, the LDS have microfilms, I have no idea what information is included http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library/fhlcatalog/supermainframeset.asp?display=titlefilmnotes&columns=*%2C0%2C0&titleno=146464&disp=Valuation+revision+lists%2C+Tuam+Union+++

Good luck.
