Hi Choc,
it wasn't so much that I helped you , if you are the lady from NZ, then you gave me some very good info on the Read family from Dorset. I am related through George Read and Fanny Moore who are my great grandparents on my grandmother Olive ( Winifred ) Read's side. The site was Genes Reunited and private e-mails. Have I assumed your ID correctly  or have I stumbled on yet another link ?

Hi Dave
Yep, that must have been me. Im related to the Reads through my gggreat grandmother that came out to NZ late 1880s.  Found out some more info but must look through my records and will let you know if Ive got more on the Reads, I found a relly in Christchurch (round the corner from me) that has traced the BEST side back to the 1600's and I think shes given me more on the READS.  Will let you know.
Cheers
Lisa

Hi Easy

Don't think I have a connection to the Reads...my lot are the Christophers from Dorset, mainly Cheselbourne (hundreds of them LOL)!

Cheers

Hello, I am also researching the Reads from Dorset and have just read all the messages contained on this board. John Read appears to be the main Read discussed. I was wondering if you/anyone knows if he came from a large family. At the head of my Read research is George Read born 1780c married to Jane Bailey at Cranborne Parish Church 1805. They had nine children seven of them boys. Their birthplace is Verwood which I know is not far from Cranborne and Woodlands where the other Read families seem to be. I only have one sibling - William - no parents, for George Read 1780 but have had conflicting information from other Read researchers on Genes and Ancestry, One lady has the wrong branch completely. My information comes from the Parish records and Census records. Perhaps someone can tell me whether my George Read 1780 is linked to any other Read families and whether he has any more siblings. It doesn't help matters when they all use the same christian name. Grateful thanks to anyone that can help. LadyTodd
