Hi Tam:

This is the information I have,

From the Irish Magsheanlaoich
Anglicized to McShanley
Further anglicized to Ganly, Gantley, Gandley

Meaning of the name Magsheanlaoich

Mag: son of
Shean - old
Laoich - hero

Here's a link to a picture of the shield

http://www.heraldry.ws/index.html

Karen

PS: Thanks for the offer!
Gandley (but known as Stanley in Canada)- Ireland to Birmingham
Ball, Kempson & Franklin - Birmingham
Shorter - Surrey
Dyer - Devon
Dawkins - Co. Cork, Ireland
Heffernan - Ireland
Huck - Alsace, France
Reinhart - Baden, Germany
Bowman & Ellis - England
Etheridge - Gloucestershire

Who all came to Canada in a little row boat, clap clap, clap your hands!!

Thanks for that link Colette, I knew there was another place I had seen it, but could not find it.

Tam, the link I gave you, you have to look under the "M" for McShanley.
