Hi Chris

Happy New Year to you (a bit late but never mind).

That's brilliant.  I can actually use both lots of information.  I think that Tilden and Jane must have been having their house Vinehall extended at the time of the census and the kids were probably with some other relative and the Peckham farmhouse was a temporary residence.

Thanks very much.

Kind egards

Roger

Hi again Roger

Although there are some 22 seperate entries for Smith in the 1841 for the Mountfield area; there is not one single entry for Mary or Tilden Francis or even just a Francis anywhere.

Sorry Roger

Hi Chris

How strange.  They are with their father and his second wife Eliza in the 1851 census.  Perhaps they were out of the county in 1841.  Thanks for looking anyway.  Don't worry about them as I have their details from the 1851 census.

If you have time could you list the details of the heads of the Smith families from Mountfield in 1841 as I am sure that many of then will fit.

Kind regards

Roger

Hi Chris

Thanks for listing the Smiths in Mountfield and Battle for me. Unfortunately I have drawn a blank.  I expected lots of entries for Mountfield and I am surprised that there are only two new ones.

However I do have some mor exact enquires for the Smith family in the 1841 East Sussex census.

Francis Smith born Sussex 1801  wife Sophia Jones Smith born 1802 in Surrey. Living in Hastings in 1848.

Henry Smith born Sussex 1793, wife Mary Ann Smith born Sussex about 1795. Living in Ticehurst in 1848.

Stephen Smith born Sussex 1803.  Living in Bodiam in 1848.

Richard Smith born Sussex 1807. Farming in Sedlescombe in 1848.

I hope that we have better luck with these Smiths!!

Thanks for your help.

Kind regards

Roger
