Australia to Britain
« on: Thursday 15 January 04 00:36 GMT (UK) »
Yes,  I know most people in the 19th Century went the other way,
 ::)

But I am trying to track Robert John Hobson b1845 in Australia,  m1871 Bristol.  I can find tons of data for ships going out from Britain,  lots of it from this site curtesy of Welsh Jen etc.,

but does any-one know of a resource for ships coming to Britain from Australia?

All help appreciated
Kazza.

Hello Karen,
You don't say whereabouts in Australia. Have you tried the National Archives of Australia?  Also, the state archives of the most likely states.

One other thought, and this will be a long shot is what about Lloyds records, they may even have been deposited at Kew.

Good Luck!

Julie

Julie

Kazza,
Have a lookat the following URL
http://mariners.records.nsw.gov.au/

This appears to have ships that left Australia for New Zealand and some that simply left one Australian port for another, so you may strike lucky from Australia to England.

Once you have done a search the records are provided in  transcription style with a link to the scanned image.

Regards,
Julie
