Hi there

I have Elizabeth McLaren b. circa 1859, a domestic servant whose father was John McLaren, a Dock Labourer. Elizabeth lived in Grangemouth and got married in Bothkennar, Stirlingshire (I think) - any connection?

Hi, Definitely sounds promising. I have a John McLaren born abt 1828 in Grangemouth (son of William McLaren and Jean Watt) but I don't have a wife for him yet. Do you have any more details on his wife or the names of their children?

Thanks

Sue

Hi Sue

Not sure they are the same but here goes... I have John McLaren b. 1832 who was married to a Janet (possibly maiden name of Dick) b. 1832 Larbert, Stirling. Their children were William b 1860, John b 1865 and Mary b 1867 plus Elizabeth b. 1859 (All years circa)

I've only been doing this a few months and am completely addicted to it now!!! There are lots of confusing bits like people vanishing off the census for 2 or 3 decades then re-appearing - or is it just me?!

Catherine
