Looking for birth of Hellen Fergusson b, abt 1830. Married David Russell 1855. Daughter of David Fergusson & Ellen Rankin(e) any other information on this family appreciated. Thanks Ken

Sorry I can find no trace of the family in the 1851 index for Glasgow ..
There are no families at all with the double s in Ferguson and only 8 Helen Ferguson's between 18 and 22 .... the majority appear to be on their own.

There is also only one Ellen Ferguson listed who doesn't match any of the other details at all, and none of the Davids listed either link in in with a similar family or are of the right age group.

The 1851 index for Lanarkshire County area has one Hellen Ferguson age 22 born in Dalziel ... no parents with her but she appears to be with a Jane Ferguson age 20 ... both are living in Bothwell at the time of the census

There is one family listed with parents david & Helen Ferguson living in New Monkland (parish/ward 651/640)

David ferguson age 46 born Bridgeton LKS
Helen age 50 born Airdrie
Margaret age 20 born Airdrie
William age 17 bor Airdrie
David 15,Marion 13 & Gavin 8 all born Old Monkland

Many thanks for the info, I have back this far and now it's getting a bit tricky on both sides, that is the Russell and Fergusson. I may be off with the spelling, I am reading a handwritten entry.
Your last posting re family David/Helen is that from the 1851 census?
