COMPLETED U.S. Public Records Index
« on: Tuesday 24 January 06 19:20 GMT (UK) »
I found some  names  I am searching for on Ancestry.com and under the title   'Directories & Membership Lists' I came across    'U.S. Public Records Index'  and I wonder what will they contain. Can anyone help me please?

I haven't a subscription with the site.

Name, sometimes age, address and and sometimes telephone number. Not sure of the source - electoral rolls over the last few years?

Sorry my connection to the  website was playing up last night. Here is the full answer to your question.

What types of public records have been utilized to create the US Public Records Index?

White pages
Directory assistance records
Marketing lists
Postal change-of-address forms
Public record filings
Historical residential records

Once again,thank-you for your reply.

Do white pages include the telephone numbers and addresses for 2005/2006 as the person I am looking for:Truan, Lloyd G is in Mi and SC and I wonder if he is the same person 0r whether he moved states.

I think if you were trying to find a current address you would be far better searching an up to date white pages

About the US Public Records Index (1984-present)
The US Public Records Index is a compilation of various public records spanning all 50 states in the United States from 1984 to the present. These records are all accessible to the general public by contacting the appropriate government or municipal agency. Ancestry.com has simply made the process of finding certain public records easier by making them available in an online searchable database.

Please note the following important details about the US Public Records Index:

People under the age of 18 are not listed in this index.
This index may contain information on individuals who have died since 1984.
Because of the historical nature of this index, individuals may be listed in households with prior spouses, etc.

I found another white pages site and there seem to be a number of Truan, Lloyd G most of them much younger than whom I am looking for. The Lloyd Truan I am seeking would be in his 80's now.

Well he isn't yet in the Social Security Death Index and that goes up to 2005. But if he is in his 80s you might expect him to be living with younger members of his family or in residential care and therefore he wouldn't show under his own name in a telephone directory if that was the case.
