Dougal was based on the Lhasa Apso, a Tibetan dog, I used to breed and show these, one even won her class at Crufts!
Definitely not a skirt from an Apso!

Hi

It looks to me like a boa cape draped over the raised end of a chaise longue.

They used to use boa feathers quite a lot for capes and stoles. My grandmother still had one in the very early 1940s.

Will we ever know ?

Hi Sharon,

I notice that the pic was taken at a Photographic Studio in Milford Haven...is Milford Haven famous for a particular breed of sheep/goat etc...?? (Just a thought...).

Other than that...could it be a giant sporran of some sort?

Romilly. ;D

Hi Romilly

You could get 'kilt' for that comment.

Guid Scots wrapped in their philabegs will attack you with claymores. ;D

Might be a wise move Romilly

You never incur a Scotsman's wrath. He might play you a pibroch on his pipes and that can be fatal to an untrained ear ( and mind!)

RussePS if you take a runner does that make you a 'has bean'  ???

I don't know about the sheep in Milford Haven, don't know why she was there either, actually it was most likely for a concert.
She got around here's another one of her in Blackpool in 1905.
And she married my great grandfather in Staffordshire in 1906.
Then in Neath, Wales in 1909.
Limerick, Ireland 1912.
Paisley Scotland 1914
Gosport October 1915
Back to Limerick by 1919
Finally moving to Leeds in the 1920's where she spent half her time the other half in Limerick.
