John Bradshaw, farmer
« on: Thursday 26 January 06 19:36 GMT (UK) »
My great-grandfather, Francis Nelson, was a 'farm servant' with the Bradshaw family in 1871. John Bradshaw(68) was the head of the family. His farm was in Amotherby, Yorkshire. I would like to find out the name of the farm.

Hi

There is no farm name listed on the 1871 census return.

The next property is the Railway Station where the station master was living.

Thanks, Nicky.
So, the railway station would have been a neighbour to his farm? That will give me a pointer when I visit the area.

I was interested to know if there was a record in any other census.

Hi there

I've had a look at 1861 and 1881...no farm name listed!! :(

http://www.ryedale.co.uk/ryedale/villages/amotherby/Amotherby.html

Has some info on the village...looks a tiny place...but there's a B&B called "Old Station Farm".......wonder if it's the same one!!!!

Sarah :)

Thanks, Sarah.
That gives me something more to work with.
Just one thing, with just 2 stars against my name, and with several stars next to yours & Nicky's, I feel like a private talking to a general.
