Thanks for clarifying, yes I have the "strip" from the register, but it still included the addresses, which is why I hoped that would be so for the births for TonyR.

Hi everyone,
Seems I've caused a lot of confusion, not intentionaly :-[
I took the 'registers' in Tony's message to mean the Index's (to the registers), thanks for clearing things up Heywood.

Best Wishes

Thanks to everyone for the replies.  I now understand it completely.  No honestly I do.  For some reason I thought the public could inspect the Registers, which I now realise is the Indexes, which are laid out like the English ones.  So I need a copy of uncle's entry from the register, to get address.  Thanks again.

Question for Runey though.  Why have you got my family crest in your profile?  There's a coincidence, I'm a Rooney and it's Rooneys I'm after!  My grandad John was born 6 November 1871 in Baltinglass, Co. Wicklow, before Dublin (1910), before Belfast (1913), before Birmingham (1930's)

Hi TonyR,

Your family crest is also my family crest.  I am a Rooney by marriage.  I haven't started on the Rooney history yet, but as far as I know my husbands grandparents came from North County Dublin originally.  Some of the family moved to Liverpool and some to Australia, don't know of any Wicklow connections, although I should add YET!, as I never know whats going to turn up when I start looking.
Best of luck
runey ( or perhaps I should say Rooney)
