william yule from glasgow

               Hi,      Could someone help find any information on a William Yule born around 1780-1800 in Glasgow. I think he married a Jane Liddell, any information would help  fill in a big hole.

I've checked the 1841 census index of Glasgow City without any trace of a William and Jane pairing there is however an interesting entry of
"Widow" Yuill age 50 with William 25, James 20, Peter 15, N? 15, Margaret 15,  Janet 15, Sarah 10, Robert 7 & Jean 5 all living in Hutchesontown.

            Thank you for your reply, I have been searching and found that they had a daughter Mary,who went to australia and married my Great grand father Frank Henwood in 1855, but I thought I could  find something about her parents.

When did mary go to Australia ?

If she was still in Glasgow for the 1851 census I'll check the index (I've had a quick look at the 1841 index and there are approx 25 entries of various ages and spellings)

         Hi,          I do not know when Mary travelled to Australia only that she was 26 when she was married in 1855,and her Mariage certifiacte states that William Yule her father was deceased,but this does not mean that her parents also travelled to Australia. However a Margaret Yule was a witness to her marriage. This is all I can find at this time. Just to find where in Scotland they lived would be great.

I've rechecked the 1841 index with no luck
However in the 1851 index you have living in ST John's area

Jane Yuill aged 24
Mary Yuill aged 22
John Yuill aged 19
Janet Yuill aged 17
Grace Yuill aged 13

No trace of William or Jane senior
(I've also had a quick look at Scotland people which shows 3 possibles for a marriage of a William Yule to Jane (but not liddell) ... unfortunately I didn't have any credits left to look at the results properly.

There's some information showing on IGI at www.familysearch.org which may relate to your family. There's a marriage of a William Yuill on 14 Nov 1820 in Barony, Glasgow to a Jean Liddel Anderson.  Also, to parents William Yuill and Jean Liddel, the following children are showing: Jean 12 Aug 1821, Glasgow/ Mary 21 Aug 1827, Glasgow/ Robina 26 Jan 1838 Barony, Glasgow.
