"Times Digital Archive"

The index to the Times Newspaper 1785-1985  is now available online for members of Kent libraries:

http://infotrac.galegroup.com/itweb/kccl

A national newspaper and whilst mostly concerned with "London" events in the early years included much more news nationwide from the later 1800s+

Thanks for the tip-off

Just checked it out and found two articles relating to the loss of my gt-gt-grandfather's ship in 1899 - helped to fill in some of the blanks.
