Mary Walker born 1867 in Norley
« on: Sunday 29 January 06 13:48 GMT (UK) »
Hello,

I am searching for details of Mary Walker born in 1867 in Norley, Cheshire and who married William Oultram born in 1862 in nearby Kingsley, Cheshire.

I know that Mary and William had 10 children -
- Jack or Joseph Oultram, born 1887
- Anne Barnett nee Oultram, born 1888
- my grandfather William Oultram, born 1891 who married my gran Violet or Violetta Bratt, born 1891
- Bertha Quinn nee Oultram, born 1892
- James Oultram, born 1895
- Emily Hodkins nee Oultram, born 1898
- Harry Oultram, born 1900
- Walter Oultram, born 1901
- Hilda Mercer, nee Oultram, born after 1901
- Florence Brown, nee Oultram, born after 1901

I am really looking for details of Mary Walker's parents, brothers and sisters (if any) and other Walker ancestors please. If anyone recognises this name from their own family tree I would be grateful for any details.

Regards,

Ian

Mary Walker married William Oultram March qtr 1886 Runcorn Cheshire 8a 287

With this reference you would be able to order the marriage certificate from www.gro.gov.uk at a cost of £7.  This will give you their ages and occupations and where they were living at the time, also their father's names and occupations to help you identify a family unit in an earlier census, also a couple of witnesses who may also be related.

Thanks MaryA.

I tend to think its the James Walker and Mary, tailors,  rather than the widowed farmer's wife theory, if only because this fits in with the family being from - and living in - Kingsley for 2 generations before and 2 generations after.  So I can't see her going off to a Lancashire farm and then returning.  OOPS I misread that - she was born in Lancashire, not quite what I understood silly me!!

But I'll do as you suggest and get the marriage certificate which should point to one or the other.

Thanks very much for filling in a missing generation - whichever Mary it is!

Regards,

Ian
