Where to stay
« on: Sunday 29 January 06 20:55 GMT (UK) »
I am looking to come to wales in the next couple of months to research my family history.
Does anyone know of any places to stay that are reasonably priced, and close to treorchy library and trealaw

Thanks Y'all

The Rhondda Heritage Park Hotel is the first place that springs to mind, but there are major road-works between the Hotel & Porth at the moment, resulting in lengthy delays to get from the Hotel into the Rhondda Valley.

A link to their website is: http://www.heritageparkhotel.co.uk/

It is about 2 miles from the Hotel to Trealaw, and about 8 miles to Treorchy.

Living in the area, I don't tend to notice Hotel or B&B accomodation - I shall make further enquires for you...

Thanks for the link, will check it out now.
It would be fantastic if you could find me a bed and breakfast.
My budget is very tight!!

hello,
have you tried this site -,
http://www.visitwales.co.uk/53351/ADAPTABLE.html

obviously SS from the rhondda has the expert local knowledge, but this may help too, what about holiday inn express, or premier inns, I've used those in the past, based on price! but depends whether you will have your own transport or need to be very close to your library.
I hope you find somewhere nice.

hi colleen, from your other post re cummings and hollands in barry i would suggest you look for somewhere in caerphilly or thereabouts this would be somewhere in the middle so that you could visit trealow and the numerous holland/cummings family still living in barry.

B&B / Guest Houses in The Rhondda are few & far between.

There is a Travelodge at M4 J33. Central between Rhondda & Barry.
