Hi Susan:  OH has connections with Gateshead Fell - Gray and Bray.  Gray is probably Sod House Bank, and I think that Bray may be Windy Nook (not sure though).

Many thanks for any help.

SooCatt, I am from Sheriff Hill, and have a great grandfather, born in Heworth/Felling (depending which census), born !852/53.

Can you help? I was born on Windy Nook Road!

Hi Rob

I can't be much help I'm afraid as all I have is a book which is a compilation of the Parish Magazine for the year 1886.  (The book had belonged to my Grandmother)

There is a mention of a Margaret Jane Hall in the baptism and burial records which I note here for you in case she is related:

Margaret Jane Hall  Sheriff Hill baptised 15 June 1886
Margaret Jane Hall Sheriff Hill buried aged 4 months 28 September 1886

Regards
Susan  :)

Susan, being from Sheriff Hill, and a 'strong' member of St John's, could you send me a copy of the book you mentioned?

In 1986, my daughter, (who happened to be born in Africa), copied the births, and marriages, of the HALL's' and WALES',

Prior to 1890 the HALL's were not from Sheriff Hill (maybe Felling/Heworth), but my g.g.grandfather (Foster Wales) was the original owner, of the Three Tuns pub. And when he died, his wife Isabella ran the pub!

I found two Elizabeth Copelands. Both born at Heworth in 1869, and 1890. Heworth is only 1 mile from Gateshead Fell.
