1901 census
« on: Wednesday 22 September 04 10:10 BST (UK) »
 ???
This might sound like a silly question but does the 1901 census cover London.
I am trying to trace the whereabouts of a Walter Henry Gamblin (g) aged 19 or 20 in 1901 and can find nothing on the census on line for that age.
On BMD there is a listing for a marriage in london 1902 and Fulham 1903.
Can anyone help.

Hi Bill,

There are no stupid questions here.  ;D

London was incuded in the 1901 census.  Which online census are you using?  By which I mean how are you getting access,  PRO,  Ancestry?

Right,

the PRO site does have all of the Transcription of 1901 on line.  However,  some of the trsnscriptions are not such good quality.  I would suggest looking for alternative spellings of the name.

Thanks Kazza.

I have just come across some old papers it could be that he joined the Army and was out of the country at the time.

Thanks for your help.
