you have paisley abbey it is still there. and you can go into it and have a look around it. but abbey street is a small street you have paisley town hall then you have the abbey and if you walk to the council offices it is a big building. and go to the bottom of that road and turn left abbey street is about there. i stay in renfrew but i know a little about paisley. i think you can go into the paisley libary i think they keep stuff there or go on to the web site. www.renfreshire.gov.uk/libraries  it all comes under renfrewshire and go into this site and look for the stuff you are looking for it will be there some where as i got some stuff from it but i found it confusing to use

Hi William 1000

Youre right, Paisley Library has a very good collection of local stuff including censuses and OPR films for all of Renfrewshire.
They have a very good collection of local maps too and the staff are very helpful.
There is a section on local history which has some MIs for the area and info on local industries.
Its all in the reference section, not the main library.
I haven't had to book a machine yet particularly if you get there early (opens at 10.00) and you can get photocopies from the microfiche reader and the film reader at reasonable cost.
