I have relations described on certificates as born in Shavington, Lancashire.

Have county boundaries changed or are there 2 Shavingtons, one in Cheshire and one in Lancashire

Any information appreciated

Hi Foggo

Welcome to Rootschat!

There's a Shevington near Wigan - is it a transcription / handwriting problem?

Kath

I know about the one near Crewe but wondered if this had ever been in Lancashire, or whether there was another one the certificates are referring to

Tim, there is also Shavington Park in Shropshire, or did you mean Shevington in Greater Manchester, formerly Lancashire?

Would it help to give the details and dates from the certificates and we could try and check the censuses to see where they are?

Mary
