Holts of Charmouth
« on: Thursday 23 September 04 04:24 BST (UK) »
Is there anybody who could check out the Holt family in Charmouth, please? In particular, I'm trying to find Emma Holt who was born in Charmouth about 1857. By 1881, she had moved to Hampshire where she was a domestic servant but I hope she may be included in the 1861 and 1871 censuses in Dorset.
Many thanks.
Angela

Hi Angela,

I looked on the OPC site (my favourite Dorset Site): http://www.dorset-opc.com/

Found 97 entries for Holt, but didn't have the time to look further.

I also noticed, under Parishes, a seperate site for Deborah Carmichael, the Online Parish Clerk for Charmouth: http://www.geocities.com/opcdorset/
She has a lot of Charmouth records and will do look-ups.

Hope this helps
Bob

Hi Angela,

This looks like your Jane from the census posted by Kris. Now, the same resource shows more children to a David and Ann Holt, the Christenings starting in 1839 and ending in 1856. They are from Dorset but not Charmouth. If you want these entries I will post them willingly but feel they would need to be verified to confirm if they are  yours. Possibly in the earler censuses of 1841/1851. I do not know if these are transcribed yet. Good Luck, Frances
