My ancestors William McFarlane and his wife Agnes Kirkwood appear with their children in the 1861 census for Tradeston and the 1881 census for Govan.  I would like to know more about them ie who were their parents and what happened to their children.  I would be grateful for any assistance with this.  Here are the census details that I have for them:

1861 census:
Tradeston 644/9 enum dist 77 pages 14/15
William McFarlane age 42 born Glasgow
Agnes age 42 born Glasgow
Children all born Glasgow
Alexander age 19
Agnes age 17
Catherine age 15
William age 11
Janet age 9
Elizabeth age 2

Agnes MacFarlane aged 70 died December 25th 1889 at 16 Killermont St, St Rollox Lanark

Father: James Kirkwood, Master Builder

Mother: Janet Kirkwood, Nee Spiers

Death Registered by William MacFarlane (widower)


William MacFarlane aged 73 died July 14th 1892 at 16 Killermont St, St Rollox, Lanark.

Father: Alexander MacFarlane Cotton Warper

Mother Catherine MacFarlane nee "Colain "(not sure about this)

Death registered by Isabella MacFarlane, Daughter

The Kirkwoods married into my Howie side of the family and there are quite a few on this site.  Hope its of some help
