« on: Thursday 23 September 04 10:22 BST (UK) »
Hello Rootschatters!

Trying to help an old contact out (have pointed him toward this site so hopefully he will become a member!)

Len is looking for an Edwin Taylor c.1859 born in Axbridge Somerset

His mother was a Charlotte Taylor and I beleive that Edwin was illegitimate.

Can any kind person find any matches on the Somerset 1861 Census ?

Your time is greatly appreciated  :D

Hi,

I looked in RG 9 / 1674 in Axbridge

No family with the surname Taylor.  I don't have a name index so only looked in the pages for Axbridge.  Are there any other clues to help with the search area

I have on order a microfilm of part of Somerset for 1861.  It does not cover Axbridge, it is more around Timberscombe, but I will look anyhow when it comes.  It should arrrive at the local Family History Centre in the next couple of weeks.

I don't mind at all.  People on this site have been so helpful, it is nice to be able to do one in return.

Unfortunately it will be in the New Year before I can help with this one.  I ordered the film on 26th October which going by previous orders (usually between 2 and 4 weeks) would be plenty of time before the Family History Library closes for the break, but it hasn't arrived, and as the order has to be forwarded to Brisbane from the Sydney office, and Sydney is now closed, goodness only knows when it will arrive.
