MARY JONES Mystery
« on: Saturday 04 February 06 06:50 GMT (UK) »
William Jones of Neston married Mary Davies of Swansea 1849 in Birkenhead. William and Mary lived the rest of their lives in NESTON. I have all the census from 1851 to 1901, but in 1881 Mary has lost 18 years, it is not a mistake it is a different MARY. In 1891 the records prove it by 2 of her children are named STONE. I have searched and I can't find Mary's maiden name or any trace of the marriage. I would be very grateful if anyone could help please.

Hi

Just been having a look at your little problem, and come to the conclusion that you will only confirm Marys maiden name buying the birth certificate of son Matthew born Neston Wirral 1872 http://www.cheshirebmd.org.uk/.

I can make an educated guess that she was a Mary Roberts, born 1845 Neston.
It seems from various records that she married a John Stone 30/Aug/1866 at St Nicholas Liverpool, they are living in Neston in 1871 with a son William (1) daughter Ann (1867) was living in the 1871 census with her grandmother Mary Roberts landlady of the "Bull" at Little Neston.

Husband John Stone died in Neston Wirral in 1872 age 32.

The first Mary Jones died Neston in 1873 aged 47.

I didn't find a record of Mary Stone and William Jones marrying, but maybe they didn't !

hope this helps
