Great Grandfather from Newport

I'm trying, with little success, to locate the family of my great-grandfather, Edward Davies (born 12th April 1852).  His father was also named Edward Davies and he emigrated to Victoria, Australia,  sometime after 1852 when my great-grandfather was a small child.

Edward Davies Sen. started a Tannery in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia but I know nothing of the family other than the information in this post.

I'm hoping that somebody is able to connect my family with the family in Newport.  I'd really like to know about his mother and siblings, if any.

I have the 1851 census for Newport and there are several Edward Davies that could be the father, what was his mothers name.
