Unknown half brother
« on: Sunday 05 February 06 20:31 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to trace a half brother & have virtually no information (no christian or surname).  All I know is that my father (now dead) sired a male child in 1933 in the Whitby area.  The mother (again no names available) did not wish to marry him, so I assume she was single!
I realise that my half brother may now be deceased.
I cannot find any BMD indexes which allow searching a particular area/parish by year to try and narrow down my search although I could no doubt access these records at the CRO (Harrogate?)
Any suggestions welcome

No one in the family willing/able to give you a bit of help?

Do you even know if this person has your fathers name on his birth cert?

The only thing I can think of is to put an ad in a local paper and see if you get a response.

Try writing direct to the register office in Whitby.  Give them your father's details and ask them if there is a birth in that year where he is named as the father.  A long shot but they might look for you.
