Barry island, do you remember???

Dear all,

I am trying to locate anyone who recalls my Grandfather or his family.
His name was Thomas John Jones, and he lived in Barry after moving here in c1925.
He was 7 at the time, and after the death of his mother, he and his two brothers, Dennis and Ivor came to live with the Holland family on Barry Island.
My grandfather had a best friend Desmond Cummings, also from Barry.
My grandfather remained a Jones, and Ivor was killed in the war, but Dennis changed his surname to Holland.
He had many children, one of which I am in contact with, but unfortunately knows little about her family.
Can anyone recall my grandfather, or knows any family who might?

I know the Holland family from Barry Island. Have you contacted Emmy Holland who I believe still lives on the Island. Emmy, my memory is not so good on this... had a brother Ivor, but your story that was told was all new to me. Ivor's wife lives here in Perth Australia,(I presume re-married?) The name is something like Avanial, and lives in the area of Tuart Hill or Bayswater, Emmy would be able to help you out.

colleen, there are numerous cummings and holland family members still living in barry and barry island i would think a message in our local newspaper would get a response, the paper is the barry and district news, holton road , barry,

I think it may be an idea to do that for the cummings side, I managed to contact the Hollands.

My friend is seeing some of the Cummings' later so she will ask them when they go to get their hair done. Will let you know if they are related to Desmond or if they know of anyone in the family that is.

The Cummings my friend  knows do not know of your Grandfather but Desmond is some sort of relation but not a close one. Sorry she could not of been more help.
