Does anyone by any chance have access to the 1841 & 1851census for Montgomery Street, Girvan AYR?
i'm looking for my McLINDEN / McALINDIN / McILYNDON, LYNDON &c family + a GILFILLAN family
i'm not sure if there'll be more than one household of each, but i'd be grateful also to know how far apart these homes were, next door neighbours or several houses apart.
One of our McLindens [spelt variously McALINDIN & LYNDEN] murdered a GILFILLAN
and we're trying to investigate it. John McLinden was a 17 year old, the likelihood being that it was a youthful fight that got out of hand, but we'd just like to get a clearer picture of them and also find out who was left of the families.
The above weren't the only ways the McLinden name was spelt, and i wouldn't be surprised to find the name Gilfillan had been similarly treated. the Ayrshire clerks must have been a highly inventive lot!
