"An Error Has Occurred" - A beginner, always, I guess...???
« on: Wednesday 08 February 06 03:49 GMT (UK) »
This has just started happening in the last week...and thought it was just
a temporary glitch, as the site is getting pretty popular...
I have sent many messsages, saw this, believed it and went on my merry way...

An Error Has Occurred! You already submitted this post! You might have accidently double clicked, or tried to refresh

I found that they weren't sending or modifying at all and now that I know... I have to go back, refresh and resend or resave...

Any help on this subject?...Sorry if this isn't the best place to post, but seemed
to be ... J.J.

I've had that happen to me a couple of times.

It can occur for one of two reasons that I have figured. Either you are clicking the submit button more than once - or there is someone else posting to the same thread at the exact same time as you.

Or Bob is about!!

On the odd occasion this has happened to me & I have later discovered that the thread I was posting to was either being moved, split or merged with another!

Bob is just brilliant at organising the boards to keep them neat & tidy & of course the other Mods do simialr things - moving completed posts being the prime example.

Maybe they should change the message to "You have just been transformed" or similar??  ;D

Hope this helps

kind regards, Arranroots  ;)

Hi, Burrow Digger...well, my mouse must be getting MORE sensitive as time goes on...or, my nerves are making me dddddouble cccclickkkk.... ;D  i don't imagine anyone else was posting to the same message...as it happens often as I am adding to a resources thread ( and Iam the only on who posts to these certain ones anymore...) I'll try not to be so enthusiastic ~twitch~next time!~twitch

and hello, Arranroots...different message comes up when Bob does that, as I
went to change a posting to closed, and the save said that I was locked out of the topic ...then I went to the duplicate posting to say that I'd closed the other...and got the same message on saving!  yes, Bob had merged the two and he is fast just as I am slow...
Had to give up the chat rooms for that reason...Everyone was paragraphs ahead, of me....while I was still saying"HELLO!"
Thanks for the replies...so it IS just me... I'm like a message magnet!!!!  J.J.

I was thinking the day went well, no messages...!
But just now it happened again...no double clicks, etc.
I go back to check each time and it hasn't posted, so it doesn't make sense...
Eeeek!   J.J.

Hi Twiss and welcome to RootsChat!

Nine times out of ten - it's Berlin Bob or Biker moving a thread !!  ::) ::)

It happened to me today too .... I thought I was going crazy ... I could have sworn I wrote out a reply and sent it   :P .... then I found out Bob was right there!!!
It can be a bit annoying - especially when it's a long reply!! - but they are usually pretty good at doing what they do - so we forgive them !!  ;)

Keep going - don't let one "error" stop you ! good luck in your searching!!

Just go back( if it will let you)....cut or copy and paste your whole post
then go back, hit refresh...and then paste and send...

It hadn't happened before that week and hasn't happened since...
so let's hope it was just a bug on my part....seemed to be that I had
taken a long time writing those posts that error messaged, so may have
had something to do with timing out, or something...
