I don't have any photographs, but I remember it well (from the OUTSIDE)

It was  the Women's prison.

There is also further information and photographs at
Forgotten History Links

Re womens prison ..... this was in the latter stages of the prisons life from roughly from 1900 to its closure in the 1950's. (the last woman executed there was Susan Newell who was hanged  in 1923)

Than ks Falkyrn
That is very interesting. You learn something new everyday
My Secondary School was Whitehill SS so that is how I know Duke Street.
My Primary School was Riddrie, very close to Barlinnie Prison, is that telling me something?
I'll have to look at the history of that. You have sparked my interest.

It's possible that there were women prisoners before that but held in seperate wings or sections .... it was also the main prison used for women suffragettes in Scotland and later Wendy Wood the fervent Nationalist was imprisoned there in the 1950's and it is claimed that her campaign afterwards complaining of the conditions inside led to the prisons closure
