Thanks again Alison.

I have to admit I'm confused.  The 1841 census is referring to Bristol Somerset, yet the information I have indicates that Bristol was in Gloucestershire from 1837.  Any thoughts on that?

Do you think there is any merit checking the 1841 census for Gloucestershire?

Hi

ive looked at census info i have, and Bristol is in both.

Bristol Gloucestershire   &
Stockland Bristol Somerset

On Glou 1841
There's only 1 Thomas Smythers 30  b.out of county

Living at St Briavels, Gloucestershire.
(but looking at map St Briavels is classed as DORSET.)

Now im getting confused. ???
