WIRTHEIM-Herman
« on: Sunday 12 February 06 15:56 GMT (UK) »
I am looking for details (birth/marriage/death census etc) for Herman Wirtheim - probably born in the 1880s- not sure of place of birth but did have American Citizenship - he was a man of independant means and died before 1945. He was possibly married to a lady called Clementine (surname not sure) and they had a son in 1907-born in Paris. Any help at all extremely appreciated.

Hi Caroline
There are quite a few Hermans popping up on various US census, but without a date, place of birth, its difficult to help you.

Do you have any idea where in the USA he lived? That might help narrow it down.  None of the ones I saw were born in he 1880s...some in 1860s and others in the early 1890s.

Do you know the name of the child born in Paris?

Could check some passenger lists with the information requested.

I was contacted by a man in Odessa who is researching Clementine de Vere Tchitcherine. In that story there is a son born in Paris in 1907 and whose father is said to be Herman Wirtheim. I am trying to find the birth of Clementine in Brussels in 1888. Can one write privately in this group? I just became a member and don't know the proceedings.
Jan.

My grandfather, Herman Armond Weedon, was born in New York on October 19, 1876 to Raymond and Louisa (Lang) Weedon.  When he married Clementine de Vere in 1904, he was already a successful animal trainer and circus performer in Europe, and had a wife and daughter.  We do not know why he used the name Wirtheim when he married Clementine, but the family tradition is that he was not yet divorced from his first (American) wife at the time.  There are several photographs of him in Frank Bostock's book, The Training of Wild Animals, which has been reprinted many times since it was first published around 1904.

If you wish more information on Herman Weedon's interesting life, you can search for Herman Weedon on Ancestry.com or email me.

Hello- I have been researching Clementine De vere - who married Herman wirtheim - for some years now as my grandmother was in contact with Clementine after WW2 until the mid 1960s and it is a curious connection! I would be delighted to correspond with you and add more information into my research as I have been unable to find much about Hermann.
Please send me a personal message (click on the face of the baby on the left of the screen)- and we can correspond off site.
