  Supersan, Could this be your Catherine Smith, she is the only one born at Simonside on the 1851 Census.(no access to the 41)
      William Smith.head. 60. Landed Proprietor. bnSimonside.
       Jane.  wife.49. bnHexham.
      Jane   dau.  13 bn Simonburn.
      Catherine.dau. 8.bn. Simonburn.
     Ann L Forster. serv. 23 bn Longhoughton
      Elizabeth Henderson. 21. serv. bn Chollerton.
 They are residing at Haughton Castle.Humshaugh & Haughton. which is very near to Hexham, and is a beautiful part of Northumberland(if you don't already know) Sounds as tho they are some sort of Landed Gentry!!!Hope this helps, if you would like the full details, get in touch again....Dolly.

I've looked at the 1841 Census for Simonburn parish and unfortunately a lot of pages are too faint to read.

The above family were at Haughton Castle then, but of course no Catherine as she wasn't born until about 1842.  Let me know if you want the details.
