It would be worth checking the Ulster Covenent searchable database on Proni.gov.uk which dates from 1912.  There are many Scullions.  You are able to printout a copy of their signature on the document.

Including Hugh of Leighenmohr, Ballymena.

Others from that location include:
Mary, Sarah, Maggie, Agnes and another Mary.

There is then another group from this location including:
Jane, Mary (again) and Nellie.

Hope these names are helpfull but check the proni database as there are many others which may help your searching.

Hi Claire

Just did a quick check of the "Glenravel online" timelines which is a collection of newspaper extracts and found the following story.

Dec 1897 - "Margaret Glasgow, aged 50, was found murdered in Coach Entry, Ballymena.  An inquest jury concluded she had died of shock resulting from injuries to the brain caused by William Scullion, Annie Scullion, Samuel McCafferty and Kate McCafferty.  The inquest jury also recommended closing Coach Entry, as it was unfit for human habitation and only a centre for the promotion of crime."

No further mention of criminal proceedings.

There are many other Scullions (including several conected with the publican trade) but these would be Belfast based.

I've Found on the Ulster Historical Foundation a possible marriage for my Hugh Scullion to a Elizabeth Linton in 1911 Ballymena he was 21 & a Law Clerk(Roman Catholic) and she was 22 & a Dressmaker(Roman Catholic).   I have just received my nana's birth cert and it appears that these 2 are her parents  ;D ;D

Hi Clare, Just found your listing re Scullion and Ballymena area and the mention of Glenravel.   Our family is searching the name Gillespie.  Just recently found another daughter Helen Gillespie who married a Samuel Scullion, they moved to Scotland. There was a son Hugh Scullion, think it was his son before he married Helen Gillespie.   We actually have a photo of this family plus her two children before she married, Thomas & Rachel Gillespie.
Helen's parents were John Gillespie and Sarah Henry.
Helen was born in 1856 in Ireland.  Can't find their marriage yet, but if you have a Samuel in your Scullion family could he be related.  Annie

Annie- Samuel Patton Scullion married 1893 Co. Derry to Ellen Gillespie- could this be the marriage of your Helen Gillespie? (Helen is used in Scotland but Ellen is the more common form of the name in Ireland)
