Burial Lookup Donington 1851
« on: Monday 13 February 06 16:21 GMT (UK) »
Hi everyone,

If anyone has the National Burial Index could they look up the following person for me...

Mary Worsdale born about 1778 living in Donington at time of 1851 census and died in the Jun quarter of 1851.  So i would assume she was buried in Donington though it could have been in lincoln??

would really love to know where she was buried so can see if she was buried with her husband who died before her.

Thank you
Lena x

thank you so much!  just what i needed  :)

Would there be much of a chance there was a headstone?  might it still be there today?
There isnt a record of her husbands death on NBI (it was sometime after 1828) so i wondered if it might say on the headstone that he was buried there aswell??  is there anyway i can find this out?

cheers
lena

Hi Lena,

Thats a difficult question to answer. We had a look around our local village churchyard a few months ago, some headstones were readable, some just worn away and still standing and a few in remarkable condition. We did notice that the ones in the best condition appeared to be from a different stone?

You could put a direct request on the board to see if anyone lives locally and is willing to have a wander round for you.

This is the link for the LFHS. They have transcribed a lot of different subects, there may be fiche available quite cheaply if Donington among their list :-\

Good Luck,

Frances :)

thanks for the info Frances, that is a great help. :)

I will get searching, I think a visit to my local LDS is needed to see if the parish records can help.

Kindest regards

Lena
