Lalbach
« on: Tuesday 14 February 06 08:12 GMT (UK) »
My great great grandfather was listed as a retired army vet in the 1901 census and my great grandfather was born in Madras. G G Grandfather maned his house Lalbach when he moved back here. The only traces i can find are a Dutch site talking about Lalbach fort and some botanical gardens in Bangalore.
Does anyone have any idea was Lalbach a fort. If so, when and where?
Thankyou

Thankyou
These are the details I have gleaned from the 1901 UK census
My Great Great Grandfather George Western (born Westminster ~ 1836) was a Vetinary Surgeon in the Army Madras, living in a house called Lalbach, Teddington. Married to Margaret Susan, Born British subject in India ~1838. Their sons Alexander (born India ~1860), George Frederick (born Madras ~1862), Cyril/Cecel (born Sangor ~1864). George Frederick married Amelie Anne McAdam from British Guyana (duaughter of Scottish plantation owner).

Any help would be much appreciated.
I am new to all of this.

Many thanks again,
Have found Albert James Western's Obituary
George Western's graduation as a vet and
possibly his father George's career as RN Commander taking passengers to India, previously as Lietenant commander on HMS Spy.

Lots to investigate
