He is not under Base and without a birthplace it is impossible to search other counties or to do a christian name only search to check for mis-spelling

I had some additional information arrive today. Walter had the following children in 1901.
Walter 1899
Dora Grace 1898
Ethel Gertrude 1896
Pretoria Beatrice 1900
Arthur ?? 1894

All born Gt Yarmouth

and of course his wife Gertrude

The only Walter Base on the 1901 was the son of Frederick and  there is no Pretoria or Dora Base.  However -  I think I know what the problem is.

The PRO website for the 1901 census - which is a paysite - was transcribed by different people than the Ancestry website which is the one I am using

I can see your Walter and his son Walter on the PRO index but nothing is coming up for them on the Ancestry website
