I understand this thread is almost ten years old, but I thought if someone else sees it and is researching the same family, this information might help. I assume the original poster has long ago learned all of this:

John Plumpton (1719-1766) was the son of Henry Plumpton (1688-1751). Henry Plumpton's father was also named Henry Plumpton (1657-1710). He's the Henry whose information from Cambridge is cited in an earlier message.
