Look up for Shand and Robertson in Neston, Cheshire
« on: Wednesday 15 February 06 14:00 GMT (UK) »
Could anyone see what they can see for Neston, Cheshire with regard to the Shand and Robertson families. Likely names are:

John (Capt) Robertson b c 1802 Scotland
Barbara Robertson (nee Shand) b 1811 Liverpool
Annie W Robertson b c 1845 Liverpool
Francis Shand Robertson b 1850 Neston, Cheshire
James Shand Robertson b 1847 Neston, Cheshire

Mary Shand (nee Reid) b 1787

I know they were there in 1851 as someone kindly looked for me, but is there info for 1841 or 1861 and did the Robertsons have any more children?

Hope you can help. Thanks

Thanks for all of that and for your suggestion, Liverpool Annie. Unfortunately, this does not seem to be the same Robertson branch.  :'(

My Capt John Robertson branch  goes back to the Rev James Robertson, the strong minister, of Lochbroom, Scotland, which is fairly well (but annoyingly not completely) documented as they link into all the documented stuff in 'A History of the Mackenzies'.

However, there are connections through the Mackenzies to other Robertsons - the ones connected to Gladstone, for example...I imagine they all connect somewhere.

Interestingly, I did notice a few of my ancestors mentioned in the June challenge!
