There is a mining research centre attached to Swansea university, but I dont know any details of it I'm sorry.

Whether they hold information on all the South Wales pits or just those around the area, I dont know.

It may be worth getting in touch with the university to find out if they can give you more info....

I have an e-mail regarding coal mine records. It states that there are very few employee lists, accident books etc surviving.If they are anywhere they will be in the South Wales Coalfield collection held at Swansea university.

They hold quite a bit about union information and records.

The South Wales Coalfield Collection at Swansea is well worth a visit and the staff are also very accommodating via e-mail.  Something you may find interesting, there is a file of newspaper cuttings at the Cardiff Record Office covering the strikes in the Rhondda coal mines;
