BRIGDENS from Kent
« on: Friday 17 February 06 20:11 GMT (UK) »
William James BRIGDEN was born in Wrotham, Kent, in 1836; his wife Mary was born in Knockholt, Kent, in 1831.
Their home was in Sittingbourne, Kent; William was employed as a blacksmith; they had ten children named:
Henry, Edwin, George, Ellen, Mauria, Frederick, Clara, Edith, Maurice and Sidney.
Despite much research, I have been unable to trace William and Mary's marriage record, which will idenitfy Mary's maiden name. I would be extremely grateful to hear from anyone who may be able to help me with this enquiry!

Looking further, the eldest known child appears to have been registered as Edwin Brigden NOAKES in Malling registration district - December quarter 1859

William J B NOAKES married Mary A STAPLES 1856 http://extranet3.kent.gov.uk/sp/rois/marriagesearch.cfm

Hi,
Possible marriage on Freebmd for william Brigden 1851 Malling with a Mary Ann on same page.Would make Williams dob 1836 wrong but he might have been born a couple of years earlier.
 Best wishes

Hi!

The IGI has entries for the christening of 3 of the children of William James Beecher Noakes and his wife Mary Ann, all at Saint Mary, Platt, Kent.

Henry William Brigden Noakes    1st Aug 1858    (His mother is shown as Marianne)
Edwin Brigden Noakes    5th Feb 1860
George Brigden Noakes    17th Feb 1861

I thought I'd mention these in case you haven't already seen them.

Best wishes,

Ju

We believe Mary's full maiden name was Mary Ann Staples.
Sorry we don't have any further info, we got this from another researcher.

Mary is my wife Mandy's Great-great-great-Grandmother!

Regards,
Andy & Mandy Barnes (nee Richardson)

p.s. Just read other replies, see others have already told you of Mary's surname, sorry new to this!
